God's Gift of a Home

In the summer of 2023, my roommate and I decided that we wanted to move out of our apartment and into a rental home. Bonnie had started hosting a Bible study in our apartment and it was quickly becoming too large for our small space. Being in Nashville and trying to find something affordable, in a safe area, and close enough to both of our jobs proved to be rather challenging. We were starting to get a bit frustrated in our search and even considered extending the apartment lease. One evening Bonnie asked me to go with her to pick up a pair of Sambas that she had purchased from someone on Facebook market place.. When we pulled up to the house there was a “for rent” sign in the yard. Almost immediately I asked "is this our house from the Lord?". We laughed thinking that this could be a divine moment from the Lord. After getting the shoes Bonnie messaged the seller asking if they were owners of the home for rent because why not? The following week I went and toured the home. As I walked around the house I began to notice small touches that showed me the family that lived there knew the Lord. I pointed them out and the property manager overheard and asked “are you a believer?”. I said “yes my roommate and I both are” and explained that part of the reason we want a house is to host a Bible study and create a space for people to meet the Lord. She then told me that the family that lived in this house were renting it out so that they could go overseas as missionaries. At the end of the tour, we talked numbers and it was slightly above our price range (hence why this house never showed up on Zillow for us). The property manager preceded to show me some more options in the area but this house stayed in the back of our minds. Within a week or so the property manager reached out and explained that the family had decided to meet us in our price range. She also expressed that the family wanted to meet us before they left the country in just two short weeks. We were able to go over there one afternoon and meet them and their children and pray over this next season of life with them. During this meeting I also realized that they were actually partnering with my church. It was so evident that the Lord intertwined this meeting in that we would need this home and that they would need to leave this home all at the same time.
